Why do airlines use simulator assessments?
Airlines frequently use simulator assessments as part of their recruitment processes. The aim of this simulator assessment is to determine if you are likely to pass a type-rating course in the minimum course footprint and not represent a training risk to the airline both now and in the future.
What is contained in a pilot simulator assessment?
Most airline simulator assessments usually follow a similar theme. You will almost certainly be assessed against the IATA pilot competencies and a scenario will be devised to help assess these competencies. It will usually be manually flown using “raw data”. Some use of the autopilot may be allowed. The scenario will usually contain an element designed to spike your/the crews workload.
